Queensland Finch Society – February General Meeting
February 1st, 2019.
Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7:30pm start.
Located at the Morningside School of Arts Hall, Cnr Thynne and Wynnum Rds, Morningside.
Guest Speaker – Cheryl Mares – “Pictorellas – unravelling the enigma”.
Cheryl Mares is an experienced and excellent photographer who in recent years has focussed on birds and finches in particular. She has undertaken some in depth studies of finch breeding and behaviour, but always with a camera handy. Her interest is to document in photos and through detailed notes all aspects of breeding for all the Australian grassfinches – a task which is about 80% complete. Our February meeting will feature her presentation on the Pictorella Munia, a species that some find challenging and which has been described as enigmatic by others. Her talk will feature a number of details of housing, feeding and management which can convert this often difficult species into a more regular breeder.
Our meeting will commence with a Short Talk from Peter Holley on Keeping Wrens. Peter will whet your interest in these great softbills.
The Aussie Wildlife Supplies and the QFS Sales Table will be operating from 6:30pm-7:30pm.
Raffles and Lucky door prize.
All welcome. Visitors welcome.
