August 7 VIC BOORMAN
“Constructing your own auction boxes – a hands-on demonstration”
School of Arts Hall
Cnr Wynnum and Thynne Roads, Morningside
6:30pm for a 7:30pm start.
Vic Boorman is a long time QFS member and part of the Committee. His interest in finches started when he was a child and he has maintained his interest to today with his excellent collection and set of aviaries. Vic has always taken a practical approach and has been ingenius in solving many a problem. Some years ago he decided to design an inexpensive auction box similar, though a little different, to the corflute boxes we have used for the last few years. In this presentation Vic will discuss and demonstrate all the materials needed and his process for design and assembly. Vic’s demonstration will be useful for all of us to learn how to build our own sale boxes to use in the future. The meeting will also include a short talk from Peter McDonald on “Ant-proof feed stations”. This will be an interesting and practical meeting for all.
We will also be attempting to broadcast the meeting on ZOOM AS WELL. A ZOOM link will be emailed to all QFS members.
Ray Wust and AWS will be present for the meeting with their full range of products, BUT you will not be able to browse and select what you want. You will need to order over a counter and stand in a socially distanced queue. Pre-ordering would be the best option. Contact Ray on the number in Finch News.
It would be great to see many of you come along for the meeting, but if you are unwell DONT COME.
This will be a trial meeting. Hopefully we can resume other features in the future.
