We object to the Biosecurity Bill recently passed in the Queensland Parliament. We need all our Queensland members and any other Queensland residents to write to their local Parliamentarian and express their objection to this legislation which was passed with no consultation with the aviculture community or The Queensland Council of Bird Societies who are our state representatives to government.
As you will have read in Finch News this legislation will be very onerous to all finch keepers. We need to push to have our hobby bird keepers exempted if our hobby is to continue. Politicians work on numbers and if we can get sufficient numbers of Queensland residents to voice their objections we have a chance of being heard.
So please speak to or send a letter to your local member and let him or her know of your concerns. Get any friends, neighbours, family members or anyone else who has an interest in birds to write a letter of support as well. The more the better.

Thank you for your support in this matter.
