Members in south-east Queensland are encouraged to attend general meetings which are normally held on the first Friday of every month at 8pm (doors open 7pm) at Morningside School of Arts Hall, Cnr Wynnum & Thynne Roads, Morningside, Brisbane. They feature a Guest Speaker, a Sales Table stocked with seed and a wide range of breeding aids, birds for sale and the club Library. Non-members and guests are also encouraged to attend. QFS also stages out of Brisbane meetings, aviary visits, bird sales, auctions, bird shows and other events at various times during the year.
Title: "Producing LIvefood for Finches & Softbills"
Speakers: Gary Fitt, Chris Leeper & Chris Schell
For the first meeting of 2019 we will focus on producing livefood, an important ingredient for successful breeding with many finches and softbills. We will have three presenters giving hands-on details of producing your own livefood. Gary Fitt will cover the intricacies of bushfly maggots - easy and quick packets of protein. Chris Leeper will present her mealworm rearing approach highly productive once you get into a routine, and Chris Schell will discuss an unusual livefood option, waxmoth. These are not used by many people, but Chris is perfecting their production. So come along and learn the finer points of livefood. Bring your questions and your problems.
