Title: "Keeping and breeding Finches and Softbills in Queensland"

Speaker: Ian Brown (Qld)

Ian has been keeping and breeding birds for 46 yrs starting when his family moved to a farm south of Sydney at the age of 11. Since then he has never been without birds. His current collection includes finches, parrots, and a great range of softbills, including some spectacular fruit pigeons. And they are housed in a magnificent series of aviaries ranging from suspended flights to a heavily planted and large habitat aviary. Over the years, having to work full time required Ian to find ways of housing and feeding his birds in a very efficient and time saving manner, keeping in mind the need to optimise nutritional benefits for health and good breeding results. Ian s presentation will outline his range of species, housing and feeding regime, including the diverse range of foods used and the processes that provide highly nutritional diets with time saving methods. Throughout you will perceive Ian s clear passion for his hobby. This presentation to QFS is long overdue as he last spoke at a general meeting in November 2007. So don t miss this one!
