The Queensland Finch Society is based in Brisbane, Australia but has members worldwide who subscribe to receive the monthly magazine "Finch News" and participate in other Society activities. Members in south-east Queensland are encouraged to attend general meetings which are normally held on the first Friday of every month at 8pm (doors open 7pm) at Morningside School of Arts Hall, Cnr Wynnum & Thynne Roads, Morningside, Brisbane. They feature a Guest Speaker, a Sales Table stocked with seed and a wide range of breeding aids, birds for sale and the club Library. Non-members and guests are also encouraged to attend. QFS also stages out of Brisbane meetings, aviary visits, bird sales, auctions, bird shows and other events at various times during the year.
Title: "French National Bird Show and Birds from Frankfurt & London Zoo"
Speaker: Jenny Stolberg (Qld)
Earlier this year our May speaker, Jenny Stolberg, was the special guest of the organisers at the French National Bird Show and was able to tour around many bird collections in Europe. Quite an honour for a birdkeeper from Gympie. But Jenny is a real dynamo on the bird breeding and showing scene. She has kept birds for 27 years, mostly finches but also quail, pigeons and doves, lovebirds and some parrots. She began showing zebras just 11 years ago and has since won 35 National Medals, including 14 Golds, and is 6th and the top woman on the showing list nationally. In addition Jenny is Secretary/Treasurer of the SE Qld Zebra Finch Club and the Gympie Bird Club. Her talk will be cover the great features of the French National Bird Show and other birds of interest. This will be an interesting talk, so see you there.

QFS Out of Brisbane Meetings
November 19 2011 saw an excellent turnout of finch enthusiasts for the QFS meeting in Tamworth. Members and friends from as far as Sydney heard three excellent talks, enjoyed a finch ID competition
and tried hard to win in the raffle.
